Hollywood Life did a nice write up on the story of Willie and Korie Robertson during the adoption process for their son Will – when he was just 5 weeks old.
“Willie and Korie Robertson were honored at the the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute Angels in Adoption Gala in Washington D.C. on Oct. 9. The pair adopted their son, Will, when he was 5 weeks old — and the couple got really emotional about how adopting him was the most amazing, life-changing decision that they ever made.
When Willie, 41, and Korie tried to adopt, they found out that they couldn’t afford the adoption fees. ”We said, ‘We’re good for it – we’ll come back,’ ” Willie said at the gala before updating, “We’ve paid it, by the way.””
The Robertsons weren’t always wealthy – but they did what they had to do and put family first.
“I’ve done a lot of cool things in the past couple of years, I’ve been to Super Bowls, I’ve met Presidents – but the best decision we ever made – that made the biggest impact on our life was the adoption of our son Will,” Willie said.
There are so many children without homes right now, and this country makes it so incredibly difficult for good parents to give these children a family. Often, parents are forced to go overseas to adopt kids. There they can avoid years of paperwork and enormous fees.
